A university team has discovered an enzyme that contains the HIV infection which could potentially help with an AIDS vaccine.

The Seoul National University team of science has detected an enzyme called SAMHD1 that breaks up the RNA of the HIV virus, blocking the infection of the disease.

The scientists said they still have a long way to develop the enzyme into an AIDS vaccine, pointing out they are just wrapping-up their basic research.

The finding was introduced in the science magazine, “Nature Medicine.”
